Do not confuse Boas Jewelry with gold-plated

Boas Jewelry Gold vermeil constitutes a base metal and a layer of gold attached to the outside. Unlike Gold plated jewelry that uses brass, copper or low-cost metal that can cause allergies, gold vermeil always uses sterling silver. This method of gold plating is done by electroplating gold to silver - bonding the two metals together.

Gold vermeil is an affordable choice when it comes to creating gold jewelry. Allowing you to indulge in luxury pieces without the luxury price tag. Gold vermeil is also made from a layer of real gold bonded to sterling silver. The highest percentage of gold you can use to create this type of gold is 18K gold, which is exactly what we use at Boas Jewelry. This ensures you get the highest quality.

Gold vermeil can last for years with proper care. In fact, gold vermeil is more durable than other gold-plated options - making ideal for creating basic everyday necklaces and bracelets.

Boas jewelry is water resistant but should be  removed before diving into a chlorinated swimming pool or before using household cleaners. Many of these cleaners contain ammonia, which can be too harsh for delicate  jewelry. Chlorine bleach, another common household solvent, can damage gold alloys.

Tarnishing of fine metals is a natural process caused by oxidation, and does not damage silver or gold. Tarnish can easily be removed by rubbing the piece gently with a soft treated polishing cloth. Polishing cloths are included with your purchase.

Origin Story

Coming from Brazil at the age of 14, I entered the US fashion industry as a model. I always had a passion for photography and all that goes into creating a look for a photo-shoot. To my surprise clothing was not the only focus…jewelry was also a very important factor. Modeling jewelry for the masses quickly led me to develop my own style for it. I discovered what I liked, what worked for me, and in turn clients, co-workers and friends would consistently ask me where my jewelry was from. Over time I was inspired to create a collection that would translate the qualities I looked for in my jewelry throughout the years…

Jewelry in 18k gold. Jewelry I could wear at any time of the day. Jewelry made with non-toxic materials that do not harm the skin or your general health. Jewelry that displays a weightless look. Jewelry providing a unique feel that is both delicate and strong. Jewelry that is affordable, feminine and most importantly made with care.

Thus, BOAS was born.

I hope you enjoy the pieces crafted. Love, Simone Villas Boas

(DISCRETION: 95% of our jewelry is plated with 18k gold over sterling silver with the other remaining 5% being 14k gold over stainless steel.)
