Sterling Silver Plated in Gold

  • Keep your Sterling Silver plated jewelry away from lotions/creams, perfume, oils , deodorant. If your piece gets wet, wipe it dry.

  • Fragrances, makeup, lotions, oils , hair spray can reduce the lifetime of the gold plating . These products contain chemicals that will remove the shine of your jewelry over time.

  • Avoid swimming in your jewelry. Chlorine, the main chemical in pool water.

  • Sterling Silver can oxidize with time, at Boas Jewelry we use a thick 18k gold layer of plating on our jewelry to last.  Just be sure to minimize your jewelry’s exposure to the chemicals.

  • Your gold vermeil jewelry should be kept in a dark, cool and dry place. Storing  jewelry in a sealed plastic bag when it is not being worn will keep out the air that causes oxidation.

  • Boas jewelry pouch provided with your purchase will help prevent tarnish.

  • Gold vermeil jewelry will tarnish like silver (as it is sterling silver, plated in 18ct) so it is best to keep it in an airtight box or bag.

Privacy & Safety

Stainless Steel Plated in Gold

Like many other medals , stainless steel can get scratched and lose its luster,

Caring for gold plated stainless steel jewelry at home be sure to use a non-abrasive jewelry cleaner that is safe for plated parts or a mild soap and water. Use a soft cloth to clean the item carefully.

Gold plating wears out over time and can flake off, exposing the base metal underneath. It also loses its luster and fades with time. In general plating can last with proper care.

Use a soft polishing cloth to clean away any tarnish that may build up over time or to simply brighten the gold vermeil, In extreme cases use a soft-toothbrush, remove heave tarnish by rubbing the jewelry with warm water.

And remember to keep jewelry in a dark cool and dry place inside Boas Jewelry pouch bag or sealed bag.
